**FIN**

I have been procrastinating on posting the final pics of the new COMPLETED kitchen... Sorry, really I am. But we threw everything away; all cookware, most dishes, small appliances, etc. So it feels kinda bare in there but it is functional and we LUV it. The subway backsplash is done as is the island thing around the oven. We haven't picked out any chairs yet for the little breakfast bar but you get the idea. Here she is:






Now I'm off to make some soup!

Hooray! Countertops!

Here is what our kitchen has looked like for a while now:



Today the countertop guys came and brought our soapstone:




Then they installed them:



They have to be treated with mineral oil to darken evenly, but here's what they looked like pre-treatment (pretty):

Lookin' goooooood

The windows and skylights are trimmed out. Floors have been stained. The chimney is glazed and cabinet hardware is finished. Just the countertops and some small details remain... So close!!!!

Getting Closer...

The cabinets and pantry are complete except for the glass that will go in the cabinets over the countertops. I must make mention of the drawers - they close by themselves...BY THEMSELVES. You just barely nudge them and BLAM! Closed. Genius stuff. All that's left is some trim, the cabinet glass, countertops and backsplash and, of course, the floors, which are being finished next week.




I am LOVIN' the stove/chimney combo...





And for the dining room, a George Nelson Bubble Lamp! LUV IT.

Getting There

Remarkable progress is being made every day. I think we'll be able to use the stove/oven TONIGHT!! I even joined epicurious.com and am planning my menus for the future... We have been using the fridge and dishwasher already and they ROCK. I mean it, people.

Big Time Updates

These aren't in any particular order but we now have LIGHTS and a few more appliances, fixtures and cabinets! It's starting to look like a real kitchen and we are sooooo excited!!! YIPPEE!!

Cabinets and appliances are here! The painting is done. It's all happening so fast!

One last decision - what color of soapstone do we want? Yes, we've decided to go back to our original plan with the soapstone. We saw our neighbors' countertops and they have exactly what we had originally decided on, right down to the subway tile backsplash. We loved it and it looked great so that's what we're gonna do.
