Not too exciting...

Nothing too picture-worthy has been happening lately. The walls are getting mudded and sanded in preparation for painting, which starts later this week. The appliances are being delivered on Tuesday. Check out this white wall:

Yeah.

Here are some paint colors we're checking out, as well as a couple of photos of the progress. The wood behind the skylights will be staying, just so you know... I promise, the pictures can only get more interesting from here.

Oh yeah, we ordered this light fixture for over the sink. The rest will mostly be recessed lights.

New Countertops

We're pretty sure we've decided to pass on the soapstone and go with a recycled glass countertop. The company that makes them
uses glass from old bottles to make these really pretty countertops (they also make floors, terazzo tile and landscaping materials - all very cool). It sort of has the look of granite but it is made of trash - I love that! Here is the color we're considering (CC10):

Now our only problem is choosing a backsplash. We think the subway tile might be too much with this countertop. Anyhoo, the kitchen is really starting to come together. Cabinets are being made, walls are being prepared for painting and the appliances are on the way. The pictures should start getting more exciting in a few days or so...

So what is this thing gonna look like?

Our kitchen remodeler, Bill Nunez (who does GREAT work, by the way), sent us these 3-D renderings to give us an idea of what our completed kitchen will look like. We're pretty darn excited.

What do you think?!

Also, the wood floors were installed yesterday and they look great. Check 'em out:

Before Pics...

This is our kitchen before. Look how yellow it is. Ick. Oddly enough, however, we will be sticking with yellow as one of the main colors. The new kitchen will be so much more aesthetically pleasing though - not to mention functional.

And just look at this hilarious range:

I like it better in the driveway...

The only thing I will truly miss is this adorable laundry chute. I love laundry chutes. Is that weird?

We had to get rid of the laundry chute because it was attached to the side of the coal chimney, which will be exposed and have an island around it. So, we don't really mind giving it up. Check out the bricks on that chimney though...YOWZA.

After Day One, this is what our kitchen looked like:

When I woke up that Monday morning, it looked like this:

Crazy, eh? It was surprising to say the least. It has been three weeks now and we have a little makeshift kitchen in the dining room, where our refrigerator is now located.

Nice, huh? Well, it's better than not having a refrigerator. We've been grilling and going out a lot and, sadly, eating lots of microwave meals. Did you know that it takes two Lean Cuisines to make an actual meal? True story. The progress is coming right along though. Today the wood floors are going in and the appliances have been ordered. Check back for more exciting pictures soon!

Poor kitty kitties - so confused...
